Then the dreaded night bus was easy enough to book and catch in Denizli but the lovely modern coach then broke down about 40 km out of town - many men later we transferred to another coach in the rain and commenced our 10 hour trip at midnight. It is a bit bizarre pulling up at 3am to a pitstop with 13 other coaches and the smell of fresh cooking gozlame and trays of Turkish tea. Chocolate was a good alternative !!!! Surprisingly enough we then got a bit of sleep and woke for the next stop somewhere in Turkey and finally reached our destination at 8am - not quite sure how they made up the time but who questions such things !!
It was a delight to be picked up at the bus stop by our host from the Arch Palace Hotel and let into our room then invited to complimentary breakfast - never happens in a big hotel!!!
View from our window is pretty special.

The village of Goreme is a tourist heaven but with locals living as well, drying their chillies and tomatoes in the sun and driving their tractors to backgammon in the afternoon. We ventured to the Turkish Bath - about time too as it was delightful to be scrubbed clean although I looked like a lobster afterwards care of the sauna and hot marble slab. Not to my husbands taste but he did have a hot swarthy Turkish man to look after him, not the nice young ladies as found in the woman's Hamman

See you soon
